Stay in Tibet during Kailash Manasarovar yatra

Nidhi tours and travels are the first to provideFor the comfort of our guests, we have changed all itineraries to provide Guest House at all places in Tibet side (no more tents) for the same package cost. All Guest House will be based on sharing with Common Bath except in Taklakot. In FAQ – Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Taklakot it will be 3 star category hotel with attached bathroom.

Q: What is the visa process for Kailash Manasarovar Yatra?

To travel to Mount Kailash and Manasarovar Lake, all yatris must obtain a Chinese Group Visa and Tibet Travel Permit. The entire visa process is managed through our authorized travel partners and includes the following steps:

  • A Chinese Group Visa (paper-based) is mandatory, issued by the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu.
  • A Tibet Travel Permit is also required and must be arranged in advance.
  • A Nepal entry permit is obtained approximately 30 days before your travel date.

📌 Document Submission Process
Indian Nationals:

  • Email a scanned copy of your passport to apply for the Tibet permit.
  • Later, submit your original passport for the Group Visa processing.
  • Your original passport will be returned after visa approval.

Foreign Nationals:

  • Send color scanned copies of your passport via email.
  • You will receive a paper Group Visa to travel.

Q: Visa requirements for Kailash Yatra?

The Kailash Manasarovar Yatra requires visa from two countries, Nepal and China.

Q: Group size and custom departure?

Minimum 35 pax per group; 1 Sherpa for every 6–8 participants. Groups over 30 can self-set departure dates.

Q: Age limits for Yatra?

Recommended age range: 18–65 years, though permits have been issued up to 70.

Q: What is the difference between Inner Parikrama and Outer Parikrama

Outer Parikrama: Circles Mount Kailash at lower elevation—easier

Inner Parikrama: Includes Nandi Parvat at higher altitude—longer, physically demanding. Not advised for pilgrims over 60 without strong fitness.

Charan Sparsha (Charansparsha) literally means “touching the feet.” It refers to the sacred act of reaching the base of Mount Kailash and symbolically touching the divine ground during the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. It is a spiritual gesture of devotion, humility, and surrender to Lord Shiva.

Q: What is the significance of Charan Sparsha?

Charan Sparsha holds deep spiritual value for devotees. Since climbing Mount Kailash is prohibited, this ritual allows pilgrims to experience closeness to the divine presence of Lord Shiva by touching the earth near the North Face of Kailash.

Q: Is Charan Sparsha mandatory during the Yatra?

No, Charan Sparsha is completely optional. Most pilgrims only perform the Mount Kailash Parikrama (Kora) and may or may not choose to do Charan Sparsha. It is considered a higher spiritual privilege.

Q: When and where does Charan Sparsha happen during the Yatra?

Charan Sparsha usually takes place during the Mount Kailash Parikrama, particularly near Deraphuk or the North Face of Kailash, depending on the route and weather conditions.

Q: Why is climbing Mount Kailash not allowed?

Climbing is strictly forbidden because Mount Kailash is considered sacred by Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and followers of Bon. It is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva, and no human is allowed to step on its peak.

Q: Are there any risks in doing Charan Sparsha?

Yes. The route involves high-altitude trekking, which can cause altitude sickness, fatigue, and dehydration. Proper medical clearance, physical fitness, and guidance are necessary.

Q: Can elderly or medically unfit pilgrims attempt Charan Sparsha?

It is not advised unless cleared by a doctor. The terrain is physically demanding, and health conditions may worsen due to extreme altitude and weather.

Q: Is mobile phone allowed in Tibet? Are Indian sim-card working in Tibet?

Mobile Phone: How to keep in touch with our friend & family during the trip? Nepali sim card doesn’t work at Tibet side but there will be shops at the phone center on the way to kailash yatra. You can take your mobile with you and buy a sim card there to call your family and relatives.

Health & Food

Q: What kind of fitness is required?

You have to be physically fit for the Kailas Mansarovar Yatra. It is recommended to get a medical checkup before you plan to go for this religious journey. But it is not mandatory that you have to submit the medical checkup certificate. People with back pain may have problem during the trip on the jagged road. People with  asthma or allergic to dust are strongly recommended to wear mask on the dusty road. Besides these people are recommended to practice walking and do exercise and yogas for the physical fitness.

Q: What type of Food and drink will be provided there at Tibet?

The food provided will be hygienic and pure vegetarian. The local water will be provided for drinking water. You can also purchase mineral water bottle at Tibet side.

Q: What clothes & gear do I need?

  • Essentials: warm layers, trekking shoes, gloves, sunscreen, sunglasses, walking sticks, masks.
  • Down jackets can be rented in Kathmandu (~₹2,000 deposit).

Q: What sort of clothing and accessories is suggested for the Trip?

As the Kailas Mansarovar is at high altitude the climate is cold so it is recommended that you have warm clothes with you, thermo coat, monkey cap, comfort shoes, masks, walking sticks, sunscreen lotions, sun glasses are also recommended accessories for the trip.
